Blue Gold

Gold teenagers seek the reputation of being a dependable, hard-working contributor to their organizations. In their teenage years, this is often manifest by being a significant part of student government, a well-known club, or a sports team. Notice the keyword is significant. That means that if they aren’t providing direct leadership in that organization, they are providing something of meaningful value that shows they’re committed constituents. Membership is something to be earned, not granted willy-nilly to any ne’er-do-well. Therefore, Golds will do all they can to prove their worth to the organization, and trust that someday they will be recognized for their seen and unseen contributions.

Sometimes this extra-mile effort leads other people to label the Gold as an obsequious goody-two-shoes. Nothing could be further from the truth. A self-respecting Gold wouldn’t even consider trying to circumvent the process in order to gain favor with the higher-ups. That would be wrong–perhaps evil. To do otherwise would weaken the system and make it unstable. Golds want nothing more than to stabilize the structure in which they’ve invested so much effort, which makes them known as honest people who play by the rules and color within the lines.

As teenagers, Golds are known as being more responsible than most of their peers. They take their obligations seriously and can be counted on to finish what they say they’ll do. Besides doing their homework, they’ll help around the house, doing chores that trigger moans and groans in other people. Strange as it may sound, Gold teenagers will much rather earn an allowance than beg for a handout. Let them earn that money by capitalizing on their responsible nature as they baby-sit, walk the dog, water the plants, weed the garden, wash the car, and so on. They do remarkably well in part-time after-school jobs and actually save most of the money they earn. Imagine that!
